Conspiracy Theory

For anyone who wants a good laugh, take a trip over to Jef Halls website to read his conspiracy theory of my cover up of election law violations...

I considered his tactics insulting and demeaning but I have come to realize that he is not worth the energy it requires to debate the issue so I will simply explain what he has incorrectly assumed.

Yesterday afternoon, it was pointed out that there may be an election violation with an advertisement on the ONW website front page. After confirming with the City Attorney and the SEB that although it COULD be considered a violation it would be difficult to prove that 50 hits came directly from that link. Rather than take a chance, I set up a biography on this site to allow the ONW to link to it rather than the city site. Feel free to check the link and see that it is still active and working fine.

Now anyone that has ever worked on Blogger knows that when you create a post, they will show up chronologically on the site. To avoid the bio being the last thing posted there is a feature that allows the administrator to change the date of the post. In this case, I picked 1/1/07 because it was easy. It is actually surprising that it worked. I failed to realize until Hall pointed it out that this site wasn't even active then, but after all, it is a cover up...

What has happened here is nothing more than correcting a mistake. An error was made and when it was pointed out it was corrected. There is no big conspiracy theory and we are not trying to hide behind dates and times. Perhaps Jef Hall needs to find a life and worry more about his own politics than some washed up council candidate that got his ass kicked in the primary.

I hope he feels good about himself this morning... I hope the Democrats are proud to have him for a leader.

By the way, Jef Hall is on the committee to elect Jessica King to the council. Do we really want a representative that associates with the likes of him? I know I don't.

Kent, that is quite the ax you have to grind with Jessica King. Did she call you on something or what? Geez.

The following are 2 of the 9 specific goals submitted to the City Manager from our Council. These 2 specific goals deal with department efficiency and cost reduction. Goal #2 asks department employees to be directly involved with ways to streamline their specific areas. Submit ways to do things more efficient and with less cost to the taxpayer. Goal #7 requires the City Manager to develop productivity standards for each department. Ways to insure each department is doing the work in the most efficient manner possible, in a measurable way.

These are 2 good goals, and address citizens concerns about making our city departments more efficient, effective and run with less cost to the taxpayer.

Goal #2 –
Have each majpr department develop an “efficiency” team to meet periodically to identify and discuss ways for the department to become more efficient and effective in its delivery of services. Approaches to helping the City achieve a higher level of ecological sustainability should also be discussed. Please have a written summary of these efforts to date submitted to the Council each July.

Goal #7 –
Continue to create standards to gauge each department’s annual performance. Implement these standards in each City department such that all departments are completed by the end of the current City Manager contract (through 2008). Provide a memorandum detailing the implementation to the Council at the end of the current year, At least three additional departments should be completed by the end of 2007.

!) Jef Hall is perfectly correct. Paul Esslinger never should have linked to the cities website, it's patently wrong. You can't tell me that this didn't cross Paul's mind as being wrong. Once it did, he should remember that even the APPEARANCE of impropriety means he shouldn't be doing it.

2) That being said, doesn't Jef Hall have something more constructive to do? Is this the best he can come up with?

To the poster that thinks Ken has an axe to grind with King: I don't see it as an axe to grind. You are judged by the company you keep. Jef Hall is an obnoxious slob, with no humility. We all know the "uninvited house guest" story. Obviously he either had or has some sort of problem. Whether he has gotten help for it or not is irrelevent. He has no shown any remorse for those actions, just that he's sorry he got caught. It would be one thing if he shut up and got out of the political scene for a few years, but it didn't slow him down one bit. If it's that important for Jessica King to have somebody with these low ethical/moral standards on her committee, then she can be judged by the company that she keeps. I will not vote for her because of having Jef Hall on her committee. I am NOT alone by the way.

If Hall and King are in the same "camp" that is reason enough NOT to vote King. I was on the fence with my vote for her, but now my desision is made. I will vote Cornell and Bain.

I often wondered.........Does it hurt to sit on those 'pickets'?

After weeks and months of being publicly bashed by the same bunch of people, I am really tired of being called a liar.

I know the truth, I speak the truth and I live the truth.

I don't lie, not to get into office and not to gain approval. I told the truth and that doesn't always go well with politics.

As for the Northwestern story, I would suggest contacting Bethany Warner and seeing what was actually said vs. what she printed. I emailed her on Friday night and got tired of waiting for her reply. So, I will come out and say it. The ONW is WRONG.

I will be damn glad when this election is over. I have certainly had enough.

Kent,

You ran for office, and you maintain this political blog site. Further, you strongly endorse certain candidates. If you don't like what comes with politics, stay out of them! My first suggestion would be to eliminate this site. It's causing you nothing but heartache. You have little credibility in the Oshkosh political arena, and your best bet might just be to become a recluse for a while.

Your last post is a pout that people don't find you credible in the regional politics. GET OUT OF THEM!

Kent,
That's what some whould want...but not others. You did speak the truth, you made mistakes, but we all do that, your human. Yes in the public eye you have to have thick skin, but you chose to fight a group of people (city union employees) who are united in that they all want more for themselves at the sake of the taxpayer. They don't give a hoot that alot of people in our town cant even put food on their table and are elderly or unemployed all they want is 100% paid healthcare and big raises. You chose to take on this group and lost because they have 600 members + family and friends. It all goes to show one thing thats wrong with our town that need changing. I say to tried and did as good a job as you could have and wish you all the best in the future. BTW I'm voting for your wife and Dan Becker. I hope they both win.

Let's see if we have this right. Kent wasn't quoted in the story but Paul was. Kent calls the Northwestern to complain, but Paul doesn't. If Paul can't or won't defend himself he's not appropriate mayor material

10:17, please let us know how the city employees are to blame for the criticism of Kent Monte. If you would be able to look back at the posts from his other site, the people bashing Monte were the people who abhor city employees. Kent actually had good things to say about city employees, and although he didn't win their endorsements, I don't think city employees had bad things to say about him. (You may correct me if I am wrong, Kent) 10:17 you have the situation mixed up. But I think you did that on purpose. You are simply looking for another reason to attack the people who work for the city.

Will you please cite your facts that city employees have asked for "big raises?" I missed that somewhere along the line...

Everybody knows that those guys working for the city have gold plated benefits. If you don't know that by know you haven't been reading Kents blog very long. Bus drivers starting at $18.00+ an hour on top of having us tax payers pay 95+% of their healthcare is all that needs to be said. Thanks to Montes blog more people now know about the citys wage and Benny plan. Thats partly the reason why so many people are ticked off with the whole city government right now. Wollangk is a puppet and hes yanked around by the unions and department heads. Thing are gonna change. just wait and see!

Yep, when Scheuermann, Bain and Palmeri win tomorrow...all candidates supported by city unions, things sure are gonna change.

You know, I watched the Eye on Oshkosh program last night. I had always thought Frank Tower was sensitive to union labor, but even he mentioned last night that things are a bit out of control wage and benefit wise in the public sector vs private sector (his words). So I do see a change happening. I doubt its all due to the Kent Monte blog, but it may have just highlighted it to some of the "lurkers" who just read and don't post.
I think I agree that you will see a change of position occur, dealing with benefits throughout the entire city labor group.
