The verdict is in... the City will pay

It is official, the bill will be paid by the cities insurance carrier. I got the information a couple of days ago, but it is now official and a matter of public record that it will be covered.

Although it is a hit for the insurance, the true burden would fall on the city as Mr. Esslinger was acting in an official capacity when the situation occurred. Had Mr. Castle sought advice prior to making the allegation like Mr. Esslinger did, we probably wouldn't be in this situation now.

Maybe the insurance company is planning on Mr. Castle to "reimburse" them. That is common practice for most insurance companies to go after the other party after they pay the claim. Hard to say if that will happen here though.

Let's hope the insurance company goes after Castle.

Maybe if he has to fork over a couple thousand dollars it will leave him a little short at the country club come drinky-poo time.

This guy takes the cake.

Is this any shock to anyone? Esslinger went to the "powers that be" and they said to ahead.

Castle wasted our tax money.

Let's get the money from him!!!

Cheryl Hentz has "sniffed out" Esslinger's legal bill. Great job Cheryl.

Cheryl then shows her stupidity by the statement/question, "It seems to me we've started down a slippery slope by the insurance company paying this bill. But if, as has already been suggested by some of Esslinger's most ardent supporters, Bill Castle should be asked to reimburse the insurance company, then, silly as it seems, he should have the same representation. After all, as the Chief said, if Esslinger was doing his job, so was Castle. But of course, it doesn't make any sense for the insurance company to essentially go after itself."

Well, no Cheryl, Bill shouldn't have the same representation because he was the one RESPONSIBLE for the bill, get it!?

If Castle went to the City Attorney, like he should have, we wouldn't have the legal fees, get it yet!?

Esslinger NEEDED legal representation because of Castle's stupidity. Castle should have paid the bill. And it might be that the insurance company will turn around and sue Castle for his stupidity.

God, how dumb is Cheryl Hentz????

Kent and Michelle Monte: Direct from the chapter entitled "Do as I say, not as I do."

Michelle posts this at the beginnning of her blog: "All I ask is that we try to be respectful to each other and remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion, even when it disagrees with our own." They've both written other such things from time to time. Still, they both do the exact opposite and wouldn't know how to do any differently if their lives depended on it. What hypocrites.

6:26. You forgot to add that Castle adored Mr. Kraft and thought that all of his legal opinions were sound. Remember the illegal bid on the bathrooms? Castle defended Kraft on that bad legal opinion. Of course that's because Castle concocted that deal on the golf course with his buddy Phil Martini, or was it on the C.R. Meyer private jet going to see a play in New York? It's funny how Castle supported Kraft and thought his legal opinions sound, but refused to talk to him about this issue. HMMMMMM

If people can't see there is something wrong here, they're just plain STUPID!

Congrats on being found innocent and the insurance company paying the bill Paul!

Esslinger 1
Castle 0
taxpayer -$1,700

Um, there was no trial, he wasn't "found innocent" the attorney general's office just declined to pursue the case. There is a difference.
